VISION
Our vision is a community where artists can:
Safely express personal themes in the performing arts
Contribute to discourse for betterment of working conditions in the arts, for people with and without mental health support needs
Share a space of exploration, reflection and artistry
MISSION
Our mission is to create performance works that investigate both the experiential and the theoretical aspects of mental health. This includes exploration of diagnosis, recovery and public understanding, as visioned by public discourses of medical theory, historical thought, pop psychology and the global self help movement.
We aim to bring these discussions to the fore through performance, and to thereby provide touch points for connection with audiences.
Integral to this mission is identifying safe and supported practices for artists, that provide flexibility and accessibility when making work addressing these themes
VALUES
We value artistry, experimentation, openness, accessibility, support, and connection
PURPOSE
To make cross-art form work addressing themes of mental health
To challenge how themes of mental health are expressed and translated through art and performance
To discover what this expression can provide for both artists and audiences
To open dialogue around issues relating to artists and mental health – how our mental health affects our art, and how our art and art-making processes affect our mental health
